All
praise is due to Allah (SWT) and the peace and blessings
of Allah (SWT) be on His last Messenger Muhammad (SAW).
The Center for Islamic Development is the reality
of a vision designed to promote harmony, education
and understanding within our community, by submitting
peacefully to the Creator of the universe, Allah.
In order to develop, one has to be entrenched in the
pursuit of knowledge, submerged in human understanding
and drenched in an overwhelming sense of care, concern
and compassion for humanity.
CID, as a colourful part of an overall fabric of society,
was established to provide sound teachings of this
profound way of life, which has given light and guidance
to so many walks of life.
The
inception of CID was from the light of hope to bestow,
upon Muslims and non-Muslims, a greater understanding
of Islam. As Muslims, we are encouraged to learn Islam's
lofty tenets, and in doing so, we enhance the quality
of our spiritual life. The state of the Muslim ummah
has been in decline over a period of time, although Islam's perfection, none
with sagacity and intelligence can doubt. Yet the
overall moral decay and decadence of Muslims is evident
due to their separation from perfection. Perfection
can only be attributed to Allah, hence any path that derails
or deviates one from their Creator leads to nothing
but despair and misery.
As for non-Muslims, the Center provides a balanced
approach to learning Islam, and thus eradicating any
misconceptions, misunderstandings and misgivings about
Muslims and the honorable teachings of Islam. The
reason to bridge-build between Muslims and non-Muslims
of all walks of life, is embedded in the concept that
if one is in ignorance of others, fear and hostility
will be the result. Hence, fear and hostility stem
from nothing but the hideous head of ignorance. At
CID, we strive to teach and welcome non-Muslims, so
that we can all live in an atmosphere of understanding
and goodness, rather than in the clouds of suspicion
and hate.
We, at CID, believe in a better and more fulfilled
future for all.
At CID, we are committed to excellence in learning,
for that is the way forward. The downfall of our community
has been the neglect of our spiritual duty to Allah,
and the utter negligence of the sublime way of his
prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Thus, we are
centered in the sound traditional teachings that have
developed countless human beings, and civilizations
over 1400 years. We are humbly in opposition to the
idea of a clash of civilizations, for how can one
have a clash, when the very civilization was given
birth by Islam. Hence, it is encouraged to know ones
roots, so that the tree is not in conflict with its
foundation.
Centering oneself spiritually and morally is to develop,
and hence the name, Center for Islamic development.
Terrorism
In the absence of a worldwide agreeable clarification
of the multifaceted, yet enigmatic, definition
of terrorism, it could be characterized as
any act of aimless or undiscriminating violence
that aims at innocent, blameless and uninvolved
people. This includes all such acts of violence,
whether carried out by pathetic individuals,
vicious groups or overpowering states.
We at CID abhor any lawless act that inflicts
harm on any human. At CID, we hold dear our
human bonds more than any material aquisition.
