We offer a broad range of Arabic courses.Courses range from level 1 which accommodates individuals who have no prior knowledge of Arabic, to level 4 which is tailored to those who have a good understanding of Arabic thus requiring more advanced study.

Professional Instruction
Sheikh Mohammad Yaffa is a classically trained Arabic linguist who holds degrees in Arabic Language (M.A.) and Islamic Studies (B.A.). He also holds professional certification as an Adult Education Instructor. The Sheikh incorporates a unique blend of teaching, concentrating on the examination of the many tiny nuances of the language so that the student will gain a deeper understanding of the language. He provides the student with an inviting, friendly learning environment. Sheikh Yaffa is a dedicated individual in Islam and desires to provide the student with thoughtful knowledge of Islamic principles and ideas in conjunction with his language teachings.


The Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad, Peace be Upon Him, said: “Acquiring knowledge in the company of others for an hour in the night is better than spending the whole night in prayer" - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 91.
Teaching Methodology
A combination of teaching methods are used in the classroom to ensure that the student is receiving maximum benefit from their classroom experience. Take home audio CDs as well as study booklets are provided. Review is encouraged. A blend of traditional methods practiced by the great scholars of the past while incorporating modern approaches to learning adopted in Islamic institutes and universities around the world is adopted. Students are encouraged to become self reliant and are introduced to Islamic source books where possible.

Course Outlines

Introduction to Arabic Language: ALC - 101

Prerequisite: None. No knowledge of Arabic is required.
Upon Completion: The student will be able to recognize all scripts of the Arabic language both modern and classical and be able to read most Surahs of the Qu'ran.

Arabic for Advanced Beginners: ALC - 201

Prerequisite: ALC-101 or basic understanding of Arabic. Be able to read and write basic words.
Upon completion: Students will have solid understanding of word stresses and syllable coordination. Word changes (number and tenses) as well as sentence patterns are discussed. The student will be able to demonstrate smooth reading, comprehension and basic conversation. The student is introduced to the rules of working with verbs and other parts of speech and will be able to construct sentences.

Intermediate Arabic: ALC - 301

Prerequisite: ALC-201 or be able to demonstrate concepts and knowledge discussed in ALC-201.
Upon Completion: The student will be able to analyze sentences. Knowledge of conjugation of nouns and verbs is acquired. Classical texts including Hadiths and the Qur’an verses will be used for the application of grammatical (Nahwa) and rhetorical (Balagha) rules. The student will continue to develop the ability to use source books independently for reference.

Advanced Arabic and Islamic Studies: ALC - 401

Prerequisite: ALC-301 or be able to demonstrate concepts and knowledge discussed in ALC-301.
Upon completion: The student will be exposed to sources and sciences of Islam and will have the acquired tools to increase his or her knowledge through independent study and research. The student will have the ability to impart knowledge to others through correct expression and presentation using Arabic. The student will also be able to increase hi or her knowledge by using self directed study employing Arabic and Islamic source books. The student will be able to derive a greater understanding of the meaning of the Qur’an.
